As an osteopath with over 30 plus years’ experience, I understand fully the need to make a speedy recovery in order to return to normal life as quickly as possible.
My key motivation has always been to help patients on a day-to-day basis. Even after so many years in practice I still get huge satisfaction from helping a 75-year-old lady go back walking after a fall had confined her to sitting at home and equally seeing someone complete their first half marathon when they thought injury would stop them in their tracks.
Background
I qualified as an Osteopath in 1987 from the British School of Osteopathy now called the University College of Osteopathy (UCO).
Back in the late 1990’s when working with a physio I underwent training in western medical acupuncture and later went on to complete a full Traditional Acupuncture training in 2007 and a Masters degree in Acupuncture in 2009 from University of Wales.
I have spent most of my career working in Cambridgeshire where I owned a large multidisciplinary clinic, working alongside other osteopaths, physios, podiatrists, Alexander technique teachers for posture, and traditional acupuncturists. I have also worked closely with a range of other healthcare professionals in both primary and secondary care.
I have enjoyed managing and working in a large clinic and have learnt a huge mount. However I am a practitioner first and foremost so now I am looking forward to practising with only me and my patients to consider.
I am a Shropshire girl at heart and the calling to return to Shropshire has won.
My aim now is to help to provide assessment and treatment of acute and chronic pain and injury issues in patients of all ages and abilities.
My special interest is movement rehabilitation and I love improving overall function and movement quality in all age groups and abilities, helping people to move effortlessly, allowing them to enhance performance in athletes, through to general life skills for everyday living in mature adults.
I am passionate about helping them to make small changes that can add up to a big difference in their quality of life, improve the way they go about their day-to-day life to avoid further injury or pain in future.
I believe in the need to look at the integration of movement patterns rather than fixed controlled movements. If you are consciously trying to squeeze or contract a muscle, there’s something missing!
Every person comes with their own unique problems and I am to tailor my treatment to enhance your individual movement and mobility needs.
